The village Kake II (pronounced ‘Cockatoo’) has access to clean drinking water. LiveBuild supported the village with the realization of a water system. Kake II is our first project where a local water company that is owned by the village, manages the system itself.

Water from a crater!

Local builders supported by the men from the village lay down a total of 9 km of pipeline to connect the village to the Barombi crater lake. The water is cleaned by a filter tank and through a storage tank and stand taps the water is made available to all the residents in Kake II

Local water company

The village has put an office and workspace into place from where the newly established water company manages the water system. The villagers can pay their annual water contribution at the office. Also the meetings of the water committee take place in this office. Finally, locally trained maintenance technicians have their base here, including the tools and spare parts they need for the system.

Training, training, training

During the building of the water project, and still at this point, the members of the village and water committee, the financial and maintenance staff receive a lot of training. The training is focused on management, finances, technology and maintenance of the water system. In the coming years, continuous follow-up of all these trainings will take place. We continue to actively collaborate with the community on a sustainable water system.

Help from many angles

Wild Goose is an expert in the field of concrete projects in developing countries. They supported this project by doubling every euro. Mysteryland also helped to realize the dream of clean drinking water. EarthWater, KPMG, Emmaus Bilthoven, Dispuut Selene, "Potje Sponsoring" and the church communities of Balk and Harich also supported the project. In 2012, the "Aflsuitrace" was organized for the second time. In this playful cycling race, participants get sponsored and collect money for Kake II in this way.
